Our certified team of technicians spend the time to fine tune the bike so you don't have to. During this process, our technicians will go through each of the bearing components, ensuring a solid, smooth ride from the first turn of the cranks. Lib Technologies is an American snowboard manufacturer known for its radically innovative approach to snowboard design.[1] Often referred to as Lib Tech, the company falls under the umbrella of parent company Mervin Manufacturing. Surf company Quiksilver bought Mervin in 1997.[2] As of 2013, Mervin was purchased by Altamont Capital Partners.[3]
Mike Olson built his first snowboard in 1977, and by 1984 had dropped out of Pacific Lutheran University, to begin making snowboards full-time.[5] Mervin Manufacturing's headquarters were set up in an "old racehorse barn," where Olson worked for two years, paying rent by mowing the lawn and cleaning the gutters for the barn's owner. Olson was quickly joined in his efforts by Pete Saari, and the two began churning out small orders for members of the nascent snowboard community.[6]
Gravitating away from the long, smoothly curving sidewall and edge of a traditional snowboard, Lib Tech's Magne-Traction technology employs a "serrated" edge consisting of seven bumps in the side wall.[7] According to Lib Tech's co-founder and VP of Marketing, Pete Saari:
Since its debut, Magne-Traction has been generally well received by both reviewers and the general snowboard community, winning more than 15 Transworld Good Wood Awards and over 20 Future magazine awards.[7]
Banana Technology does away with this "dead zone" by reversing the snowboard's camber between the rider's feet; rather than arcing upward, like traditionally cambered boards, those with Banana Technology arc downwards, allowing the board to rest on its center when placed on a flat surface. As Saari puts it, "Banana Technology focuses edge pressure between your feet, bringing the dead zone to life. It adds catch free tips and tails for jibs, rails, and forgiving landings. It adds pre-bent rocker between your feet for edge hold and carving, and it adds tip and tail float in powder."[8]

Lib Tech is known throughout the snowboard industry for their longtime commitment to environmental sustainability.[13] Mike Olson took the first steps towards sustainability early in the history of Lib Technologies; he replaced toxic ABS plastic with recyclable polyethylene in 1986, and introduced sustainable polymer topsheets and bamboo cores in 1995.[13]
Currently, Lib Tech even has its own environmental task force, dubbed the "environMENTAL division," which oversees the company's sustainability measures.[14] Not only does Lib Tech incorporate environmentally friendly materials into their snowboards (such as water-based graphics, non petroleum-based bio-plastic topsheets, Volatile organic compound resin, renewable wood cores, and basalt fiber rather than fiberglass), but the company has also designed their factory with the environment (and the health of their employees) in mind.[5][13][14][15] The factory's heating system runs on canola-based bio-diesel, which Lib-Tech makes available to employees and local farmers through a bio-diesel co-op program.[14] Wood sawdust is recycled as a soil additive, scrap wood is repackaged as kindling, and scrap plastics are reground and reused.[14] Water-cleansed grinding systems reduce airborne particulate levels, and the factory's air supply is constantly fresh due to a 2700% air-replacement ventilation system.[14]
This board is made of Triax glass, carbon bands, and magic bean resin to hold it all together while giving it a poppy yet lively feel. It has a hybrid Poplar, Paulownia, and plastic core designed to give the board response, pop, and power while keeping the weight light and the impact on the environment low.

A new addition to the Golden Orca from the Traditional Orca is the Power Kink Tail technology Lib Tech added in. The tail is long and has a more mellow angled rise to it. The design makes the Golden Orca the better Orca deck for riding switch.
The Golden Orca comes in slightly narrower than the traditional deck. That said, it is still wider than most snowboards. Lib Tech recommends going with a size that is one to three centimeters smaller than your usual length to find the perfect Golden Orca size for you.
This deck has nine millimeters of taper. The nose on this snowboard is nine millimeters wider than the tail. The tapered shape gives this deck its flawless ability to float in powder. It also makes carving on this board feel effortless.
The Lib Tech Travis Rice Orca is the most popular board on the Lib Tech line. This snowboard is a volume-shifted board. That means it runs shorter and wider than most snowboards. The benefit is that you can ride this snowboard around 3cm to 6cm shorter than your usual deck. The shorter length makes this board more maneuverable.
The Lib Tech Orca is a popular snowboard that also comes in two additional premium versions. The first is the Golden Orca, and then there is a brand new version for the 2023 season called the Apex Orca.
The Jones Mountain Twin is the best selling board of the Jones Snowboard brand. The board is an aggressive directional twin. It is an all mountain snowboard that blends the stability of a freeride board with the playfulness of a freestyle board. This deck has a hybrid camber rocker profile shape that looks like this.
It is designed as camber between your feet and rocker outside of your bindings in the nose and tail. The profile of the board gives it a freestyle feel while the camber provides the board with a lot of energy and pop. At high speeds, this is a stable board that can hold an edge. One call-out feature of the board is the 3D contour base in the nose and tail. The 3D base will help snow flow out of the sides and make for an excellent glide through deep snow. As you carve on the Jones Mountain Twin, it will feel like you are rolling from edge to edge. What makes the Mountain twin one of the top all-mountain snowboards is its new blunt nose shape. By adding a blunted nose, you will feel the benefits of having a longer nose without the weighed down feel of snow collecting on the top.
It is reverse camber in the nose and then camber through the rest of your board. This is an aggressive board that handles all-terrain, except it will not be right for you jibbing in the park. It holds an edge through whatever uneven or soft terrain you through at it. However, it is more of a freeride than freestyle snowboard.
